Current OPEN Opportunities for the 2021/2022 School Year:
PTO Officers / Board Member: The board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the organization and consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.
Time Commitment: One year commitment of approximately 1-2 hours/month which includes attending the 1 hour monthly meetings. Additional time commitment comes from supporting various position functions and/or events throughout the year at the individual’s discretion.
Yearbook Coordinator: Work with Lifetouch Yearbook to create our yearbooks from scratch. Gather photographs, build class pages using school portrait photos, design the layout of the yearbook using Lifetouch software. Work with school staff to coordinate sales. Must be creative, detail oriented, willing to learn how to use Lifetouch software through online tutorials and assistance from Lifetouch representatives.
Time commitment: Ongoing throughout the school year.
Picture Day Volunteer: Escort students to and from the media center for photos and help students remain socially distanced. Bonus: this volunteer will receive one free photo package from Lifetouch!
Time Commitment: One school day in Fall Date TBD
Bus Driver Appreciation Day: Put together 4 small gifts for our amazing bus drivers. All costs will be reimbursed by PTO. Gifts must not exceed $10 and must not contain homemade goods in efforts to provide safe and responsible goods during the pandemic. Work with school staff to distribute to drivers.
Time Commitment: One time commitment. Gifts to be distributed to drivers on Oct Date TBD
Superintendent Parent/PTO Advisory Member: The Superintendent Parent/PTO Advisory Committee is comprised of parent representatives from each school. They meet with the Superintendent and other district staff throughout the school year to identify common needs and goals, provide Superintendent with feedback, serve as an advisory, and facilitate communication between parents and district staff.
Time Commitment: Four Zoom meetings throughout the school year. Meetings are from 6:30-7:30 p.m., but have run longer depending on the discussion.
No-Fundraiser Fundraiser Coordinator: Organize the No-Fundraiser Fundraiser to eliminate the need for direct selling fundraisers. Update communications and work with school and PTO to promote.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours in the months of November and December
Teacher Conference Meals Coordinator (Fall & Spring): Organize and deliver meals for teachers during the fall and spring conferences. Follow health and safety guidelines for individual packaged meals as needed. Submit expenses to PTO for reimbursement.
Time Commitment: 1-3 hours in the Fall & again in the Spring / includes delivering meals if needed.
Book BINGO Coordinator: Organize a social/community building event for students and families. Typically a Friday evening leading into “I Love to Read” month/February. Schedule and coordinate the event with school staff, request book donations from the school community and promote the event, organize supplies and help with event setup.
Time Commitment: 6-8 hours including the event in Feb
Parent Education Night (Fall): Organize a topic and speaker for a parent education event. Act as liaison between chosen speaker and school. Schedule date/time/location or virtual details and promote the event.
Time commitment: 3 hours including the event.
Staff Appreciation Chair (Spring): Put together small gifts for our amazing teachers during teacher appreciation week. All costs will be reimbursed by PTO. This can be small gifts/snacks/meals/etc. Be creative to help show our appreciation for all the staff does! Individual gifts must not exceed $10 and must not contain homemade goods in efforts to provide safe and responsible goods during the pandemic. Work with school staff to distribute to staff.
Time Commitment: One time commitment of 3-4 hours. Gifts to be distributed to staff the first week of May.
Summer Landscaping improvements Chair: Consult with school staff to identify potential landscape improvements on property and schedule work.
Time commitment: One time commitment in May/June.
Grant Coordinator for the 2021/2022 School Year: Coordinate the school’s efforts to obtain grants and funding from various organizations. Identify and develop proposal options based on whether they meet the school’s current needs. Complete grant-specific reports and research availability of grants. Report on the grant funding process to ensure organization’s compliance with all requirements.
Time commitment: One time commitment of an overall 4-6 hours
Spirit Wear Coordinator: Work with Chux (or designated vendor) to put together pricing and orders for East Union Apparel. Coordinate with staff and PTO to promote and organize sales. Distribute orders.
Time Commitment: One time commitment of 6-8 hours in the Fall.
School Supplies Coordinator: Consult with our vendor (School Tool Box) to put together pricing and orders for boxes of school supplies to be delivered to the school prior to the first day of school. Work with school staff & PTO to coordinate sales.
Time commitment: Approximately 2 hours Spring/summer prior to the upcoming school year.
Other Volunteer Opportunities currently not being filled:
The following positions are dependent on a vacancy or district health guidelines regarding in-person gatherings due to Covid-19. These roles will be opened as needed.
Carnival Event Chairperson: Provide leadership and ensure committee members are aware of their obligations and that the committee complies with it’s responsibilities. Lead the team through the business of planning, implementing, and evaluating the Spring Carnival. Carnival Sub-committee Chairs include the following functions:

Time commitment: Ongoing throughout the Spring leading up to the event, typically held in April
Breakfast Buddies (Fall & Spring): Organize a social/community event for students and families. Typically held twice a year on the first Friday of October & again in the Spring prior to start of the school day in the cafeteria. Order Donuts and coffee and supplies (or other district approved breakfast items), promote the event, coordinate setup & cleanup.
Time Commitment: 1-3 hours including the event.
Culver’s Night Fundraiser (Fall & Spring): Coordinate school fundraiser in conjunction with Chaska Culvers restaurant. Event typically held twice a year (fall and spring) on a Tuesday evening during the school year. Work with Culver’s Restaurant Manager to coordinate event, promote event and organize student volunteers, attend event to greet volunteers and set up tip jars.
Time commitment: 5 hours including the event

The PTO works very closely with the Principal and EUE Staff to provide additional opportunities for our East Union students and teachers. We want to make sure you are aware of school-wide happenings and opportunities to be involved in your child’s classroom and school.
